Whilst based on, and generally contiguous with, the Colchester Borough Council area, the circuit stretches into Tendring District by incorporating the town of Brightlingsea where a Local Ecumenical Partnership (LEP) with the United Reformed Church exists. Dedham and various villages on the Dedham side of Colchester are part of Harwich and Manningtree Circuit whilst Thorrington, Alresford and Great Bentley, which bisect the Colchester Circuit are part of Clacton on Sea Circuit.
